With the support of ULI national and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, ULI Tampa Bay will be conducting a hybrid virtual study visit with the City of Tampa. This work will link together a brain trust of national experts with local land use leaders to pioneer a leading edge land acquisition and disposition strategy for the City that will build a foundation of equity and health into forthcoming City investments and advance the City’s ambitious affordable housing goals.
Tampa was one of four cities that ULI selected to join a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-supported cohort focused on addressing local land use and transportation barriers (both policies and practice) to advance healthier and more equitable projects and places. The results of the innovative work will be highlighted in a national ULI report focused on health and equity and featured at the 2021 ULI Spring Meeting. As one of the fastest growing MSAs in the country, Tampa has a once in a generation opportunity to get ahead of growth and serve as a model city for prioritizing health and equity in housing in Florida and beyond. Tampa’s new mayor, Jane Castor, is committed to increasing the supply of affordable housing.
